Online Couples Counseling & Sex Therapy available Nationwide via Telehealth

Specialized, expert-level sex and couples therapy— from wherever you are, for whatever you’re struggling with.

Finding a therapist who is genuinely specialized in sex therapy and couples work — not just someone who checked a box in grad school — is harder than it should be. And finding one who is licensed in your state and available in a reasonable timeframe can feel nearly impossible.

That's exactly why I built my practice around telehealth.

I'm Dr. Anna Smith, a Licensed Psychologist and AASECT Certified Sex Therapist. AASECT certification represents the gold standard of specialized training in human sexuality — and it's rare. Through PsyPact, I'm authorized to provide telehealth psychology services across more than 40 U.S. states, which means wherever you live, you can access the level of specialized care you deserve.

From emotional disconnect, desire discrepancy or sexual dysfunction, to communication breakdowns, trust issues, or life transitions, and the stuff that’s hard to talk about with a therapist who doesn’t get it. You’ve come to the right place.

What Telehealth therapy actually looks like:

A lot of people have tried telehealth and found it felt hollow or impersonal. I hear that. I'd invite you to give it another chance with a therapist who has built their entire practice around making online sessions feel genuinely connected.

  • Sessions happen via a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform — think Zoom, but private and encrypted

  • You join from wherever feels comfortable: your bedroom, your car, a quiet office

  • No commute, no waiting rooms, no parking — just the work

  • Sessions are 55 minutes; individuals and couples welcome

  • Research consistently shows telehealth therapy is as effective as in-person for most concerns

  • For topics as sensitive as sex and intimacy, many clients actually find it easier to open up from the privacy of their own space

What we can work on together

My specialty is the intersection of emotional connection and sexuality — the place most therapists aren't fully equipped to go. Here's what clients come to me for:

  • Sex therapy — desire differences, low libido, sexual anxiety, performance concerns, orgasm difficulties, painful sex, sexual shame, trauma recovery

  • Couples therapy — conflict cycles, emotional distance, feeling like roommates, rebuilding trust after betrayal, communication breakdown

  • Individual therapy — understanding your own relationship patterns, sexuality and identity exploration, processing past experiences

  • Therapy intensives — concentrated half-day or full-day sessions for couples or individuals who need deeper work, faster

  • Affirming care — kink-affirming, trans-affirming, and ENM-affirming therapy for all identities, orientations, and relationship structures

Why clients choose telehealth with me specifically:

"I live somewhere without good options." Whether you're in a rural area, a smaller city, or simply somewhere that doesn't have many therapists who specialize in sex and couples work — telehealth closes that gap entirely.

"I want a specialist, not a generalist." Most therapists have some couples training. Far fewer have AASECT certification in sex therapy AND deep couples therapy experience. That combination is what I offer.

"I value privacy." Walking into a therapist's office in a small town — or even a big one — can feel exposing. Online sessions from home give you complete control over your privacy.

What to expect when you reach out:

Step 1: Schedule a free 20-minute consultation — no paperwork, no pressure, just a conversation

Step 2: We'll make sure we're a good fit and I'll answer any questions you have about the process

Step 3: If it feels right, we'll schedule your first full session and get started

Q: Are you licensed to practice in my state?

A: Possibly! I'm licensed in more than 40 states through PsyPact. Scroll up to see the full list. If your state isn't listed, reach out and I can let you know about any recent additions.

Q: Do you offer in-person sessions?

A: No, my practice is entirely online. All sessions are conducted via secure, HIPAA-compliant video. This allows me to serve clients across the country with the same quality of care.

Q: Is online therapy as effective as in-person?

A: Yes. A substantial and growing body of research confirms that telehealth therapy produces outcomes equivalent to in-person therapy for the concerns I specialize in, including couples therapy, sex therapy, and trauma-informed individual work.

Q: What are your fees?

A: I am an out-of-network provider. Couple’s Intakes are 90 minutes @ $360, Individual intakes are 55 minutes @ $225; all subsequent sessions (couples OR individual) are 55 minutes @ $225. Many clients use FSA/HSA funds or out-of-network insurance benefits, and I provide superbills for reimbursement.

Q: How do I know if you're a good fit before committing?

A: Every new client starts with a free 20-minute consultation. We'll talk about what's bringing you in, I'll answer your questions, and we'll both get a sense of whether working together feels right. No paperwork, no pressure, no commitment required.

Whether you're recovering from betrayal, navigating a sexless marriage, or simply feeling stuck, couples therapy creates space to slow down, understand what's happening beneath the surface, and build a stronger foundation for your relationship. Couples therapy isn't about assigning blame—it's about learning how to communicate differently, respond with intention, and rebuild a partnership that feels secure, connected, and resilient.

Through our work together, we’ll set the foundation for connection and growth for each person in the relationship and the relationship as a whole.
